TransWork is an inclusive program designed to meet employment needs, entrepreneurship aspirations, and employers' hiring goals of trans and gender non-conforming (T/GNC) communities. TransWork is a program of Greater Philadelphia's LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce, The Independence Business Alliance (IBA), and represents its commitment to helping all members of our community, across the gender spectrum, to access economic opportunity. A committee of trans, gender non-conforming, and non-binary IBA members helps govern and guide program development with support from Independence Business Alliance staff. TransWork fills a critical gap in addressing the economic disparity in the transgender community by connecting job seekers and entrepreneurs to a network of supportive, trans-competent employers and business partners.
The primary program components involve employment and entrepreneurship. We seek both to connect T/GNC applications with employers as well as help trans and non-binary entrepreneurs start, grow, and thrive in their own businesses.
Please Note: This presentation is meant to provide information and support to transgender and gender non-conforming folks who are interested in transitioning on the job. We also welcome business professionals of all gender identities who are interested in learning more about how they can support their trans/gender non-conforming employees with transitioning on the job.
