Vox Media

Fellow, The Verge
at Vox Media, LLC
Remote (US Only)

Writers at The Verge cover the future at the intersection of technology,
science, and culture. As an essential voices fellow, you will work closely
with our news and reporting team, or our tech reviews team, to write stories
about how technology is changing life in the future. We are seeking to
broaden our staff and coverage by finding talented people with a diverse
range of experiences and perspectives. This is a hands-on fellowship where
you will publish stories on our front page alongside the rest of our staff.
Many of our fellows get their first story up within their first week. The
fellowship is a one-year, full-time, salaried position (with benefits).

As a fellow, you will learn how The Verge’s exciting modern newsroom
operates and have access to the same support and insight that we offer to all
of our writers. You’ll receive the same intensive training all of our
writers receive, and additional opportunities, like special seminars with our
editors on reporting tools and processes, funding to attend a professional
conference (such as conferences from the National Association of Black
Journalists, the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, SRCCON or
NICAR), and networking opportunities within Vox Media. You will also be able
to participate in skill shares, training, and mentorship opportunities with
the fellowship cohort from across the company, including fellows from Vox and
New York Magazine.

The Verge offers a welcoming and collaborative environment, especially for
new members of the team. You will be paired with an editorial mentor who will
help guide you, but you will have access to editors and reporters across the
team to learn from them and talk about stories.

At The Verge, we hire people not to keep our newsroom the same, but to change
it. We value a wide range of experiences and backgrounds. We’re looking for
emerging journalists or even people from outside of the media industry who
want to start a career in journalism. You will be encouraged to help us
expand our audience, challenge our assumptions, and leave your mark on our organization.
