BAKER & CAKE DECORATOR
Crust is a specialty, vegan bakery in the NW Philadelphia neighborhood of
Manayunk. This position is based out of our commercial kitchen (located just
down the street from our storefront) on Krams Ave where we do the majority of
our baking.

Schedule
This is a full time 40 hour a week position with the following schedule:
9am - 5pm Tuesday - Saturday
Pay rate, Healthcare, and PTO
Base pay starts at $15/hr with a possible raise after the first six months
based on experience and performance in the role. Upon hire all employees also
receive tip outs which are split equally among all staff based on the number
of hours worked. Currently, tips average an additional $1.50 - $3/hr. All
employees receive access to a free telehealth plan after the probationary
period, and there is a full health insurance option available for purchase
upon hire. After our 6 month probationary period, all employees receive 40
hours of PTO and an additional 40 hours of Sick Time annually. The amount of
PTO increases at a rate of 1 day/year with a maximum accrual of 80 hours
annually.
“But do I have to be vegan to work here?”
While we do not require our staff to be vegan, since we are a kosher
certified kitchen and bakery, all meals brought to eat at work must follow
kosher guidelines and therefore must be vegan.

Duties include:
Baking:
Measuring, weighing, and combining ingredients with the use of large mixers,
heat source, and other equipment
Following existing recipes
Packaging catering orders
Monitoring items during baking, oven temperatures, and mixing machines, and
other equipment
Dishwashing and other cleaning duties as needed
Ensure all food surfaces and baking equipment meet all health and safety
standards
Clean and sanitize workstations to assist the next shift/coworkers
Manage daily inventory levels
Maintain daily par stock of baked goods
Pastry & cake decorating:
Production of specialty pastries (pop tarts, cake cups, cheesecakes, buns,
pies, fillings, etc)
Decorating of cakes in large volumes
Specialty cookie and pop tart decorating
This role asks the following of you:
1+ years of cake decorating experience
Desire to work on and complete tasks with others - a strong sense of teamwork
is a must
A attitude that balances collaboration and self-motivation
Ability to follow directions, multi-task and pay attention to detail
Keeping a clean & organized work-station throughout shift
Ability to stand and work on your feet for extended periods of time
Ability to lift 30-50 pounds
Basic knowledge of food safety, a plus
Bakery/restaurant experience in a high-volume kitchen, a plus
Servsafe certified, a plus. If you are not Servsafe certified, Crust will pay
for you to take the course to obtain your certification on a day when you are
already scheduled to work and will provide access to a computer if needed.
