Planned Parenthood of Michigan is looking for a Civic Engagement Coordinator
who can successfully integrate voter education and engagement around Democracy issues into our broader advocacy and organizing programs.
The Civic Engagement Coordinator will collaborate directly with the PPAM Program Manager to secure voting access for all, via education and outreach opportunities, support creating fair legislative maps, protect and increase access to voting, and stop the corrupting influence of big money in politics.
The Civic Engagement Coordinator will work to ensure that community members are not only engaged in the voting process, but with wider civic engagement initiatives as well.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Provide administrative assistance and support to volunteers engaged in our
current redistricting project.
Maintain and track program metrics and progress to goals.
Support outreach efforts to non-partisan community organizations.
Coordinate educational event planning and promotion.
Assist with virtual event facilitation and basic technical support for Zoom.
Collaborate with volunteer leaders to identify opportunities and needs to
assist with recruitment and training of new volunteers for this project.
Organizing and attending community events and meetings to engage and expand
voter and wider civic participation across Michigan.
Educating, engaging and empowering our community, especially young people, to
protect voting rights and turn presidential-year voters into every-election
voters in collaboration with partners, canvassers, youth interns and
volunteers.
Work with Planned Parenthood of Michigan's allies to manage and develop
coalitions with advocacy organizations, good government organizations, labor,
political figures, and national connections.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
Intermediate concepts, practices and procedures used in effective and
efficient community outreach activities and organizing campaigns designed to
engage target audiences and move them to action.
Intermediate knowledge of Political issues impacting the mission of the
organization.
Intermediate knowledge of Reproductive health issues impacting the
organization's ability to further its mission.
Intermediate knowledge of the reproductive justice framework and feminist
principles.
Skills in:
Intermediate Project Management Operating standard office equipment and using
required software applications, including Microsoft Office.
Google, VAN, Every Action, Better Impact, Asana, BlueJeans, and others.
Data gathering and analytic techniques.
Intermediate Meeting facilitation and process management.
Intermediate concepts, practices and procedures used in political campaigning
and organizing.
Ability to:
Partner with other functional areas to accomplish objectives.
Facilitate meetings, ensuring that all viewpoints, ideas and problems are
addressed.
Incorporate needs, wants and goals from established strategic goals into
tactics and techniques to meet objectives.
Attend to detail while maintaining a big picture orientation.
Gather information, identify linkages and trends and apply findings to
assignments.
Incite enthusiasm and influence, motivate and persuade others to achieve
desired outcomes.
Interpret and apply policies and identify and recommend changes as
appropriate.
Work under pressure on multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines in a
fast-paced work environment with frequent interruptions and changing
priorities.
Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
Handle stressful situations and provide a high level of customer service in a
calm and professional manner.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Travel and accept a flexible work schedule that may involve some evening and
weekend commitments.
Solve problems, analyze information and data, and manage projects.
Exercise a high degree of judgment and diplomacy and maintain
confidentiality.
Have a sense of humor.

Qualifications and Experience Preferred
At least 3 – 5 years of relevant experience

Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved
by hiring decision makers.

Annual Salary Range $40,000 - 42,000
