About the Role:
GenderCool’s Development Manager is responsible for the execution of
fundraising strategies; grant research, writing, and management;
fundraising-centric event management; development operations; donor research;
and cultivation and stewardship communications, systems, and processes.
Targeted prospect categories for the Development Manager will include
individual donors, major donors, legacy donors, private and corporate
foundations, and governmental funding sources. The Development Manager should
have a desire to be part of a rapidly-growing social movement, fueled by the
young people ages 12 to 17 whom we call the GenderCool Champions. The ideal
Development Manager will be a self-starter who is intent on helping the
organization meet and exceed its fundraising goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Execute cultivation and stewardship processes
Research, contact, and close individual and organizational donor prospects
Steward existing donor relationships
Leverage email, phone, social media, direct mail, and in-person efforts

Grant research, writing, and management
Research and write qualified grant proposals
Ensure key grant deadlines are met
Assist in the measurement and reporting of grant impact
Donor operations management, communications, and reporting
Database management of our donor CRM and newsletter database
Manage all donor communications, including our newsletters
Fundraising-centric event management
Assist with fundraising-focused event strategy and execution

Skills & Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
2+ years’ experience in a development role at a nonprofit
1+ year of grant writing experience
Experience working with a donor database
Experience in communicating with donors or potential donors via phone, email,
newsletters, social media, events, etc.
Experience with event planning or management
Grant research and management experience
Strong writing skills for grants and donor communications
Understanding of the LGTBQ+ community, specifically the transgender and/or
non-binary community
Able to work cross-departmentally
Adaptable - able to work/operate on the fly under rapidly changing
circumstances
Experience supporting youth or youth causes is a big plus
Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel (or similar)
Ability to work remotely
Light travel required

Role Parameters:
Remote full-time employee
$52,500 annual salary and bonus eligible
