OutRight Action International

Founded in 1990, OutRight Action International strives to help lesbian, gay,
bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI) people live safer, healthier, and
more empowered lives worldwide. OutRight documents human rights violations
and advocates for the rights of LGBTI people. OutRight ’s vision of change
includes policy reform, legal challenges, and stronger LGBTI communities
worldwide. OutRight currently seeks an Executive Assistant.

The Executive Assistant is a full-time position and reports to and provides
comprehensive support for the Executive Director. The core function of this
role is to ensure that the Executive Director maintains an active, effective,
and well-managed schedule related to internal and external organizational
activities. Secondary functions include coordinating specific projects and
activities related to other departments including Operations, Communications,
Development, and Program staff, coordinating with the Board of Directors,
offering logistical event support and general administrative office duties.

Executive Support Responsibilities (50%)
•       Maintaining the Executive Director’s calendar and arranging all travel
logistics;
•       Handling all financials related to the Executive Director (i.e. receipts,
reimbursements, etc.);
•       Conducting supplementary research for Executive Director including
producing information on current news topics and research on the legal
policies in specific countries;
•       Acting as liaison between Executive Director’s office and other
stakeholders, including journalists, activists, donors, academics, diplomats
and other organizations;
•       Serve as liaison to the Board of Directors, which involves providing
administrative support and coordination to the Board, Board Committees and
maintaining all Board information;

Other Responsibilities (50%)
•       Planning, coordinating logistics and managing OutRight events, including
Advocacy Week and OutSummit – OutRight’s annual global conference.
•       Organizing team-building and staff events;
•       Organize public education events about LGBTIQ rights globally such as the
OutTalks Series;
•       Solicit, revised and collate weekly updates to OutRight staff and board
about initiatives across departments and LGBTI news;
•       Greeting office visitors and callers, and making sure the office is kept
in an orderly fashion;
•       Assisting with administrative procedures and systems to assure compliance
by all staff;
•       Providing administrative support across the organization for special
projects, as needed
•       Helping with grant administration, i.e. liaising with grantees for the
purpose of gathering narrative and financial reports;
•       Other duties as assigned.

Preparation and Knowledge
•       Bachelor's degree in a related field.
•       1-3 years professional experience in non-profits, administration, social
justice, or related field.
•       Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, digital conference platforms and
database management experience preferred.
•       Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
•       Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally
and in writing.
•       Ability to organize, prioritize work and take great initiative.
