Gender Justice Fund

OVERVIEW

Do you have an eye for detail, a mind for Excel spreadsheets, and a passion for social justice? If so, you might be who we’re looking for. Gender Justice Fund (GJF) is seeking a Grants & Operations Associate to support our grantmaking activities and general operations. GJF is a small private foundation in Philadelphia, PA that fights to end all forms of gender-based oppression through trust-based philanthropy and by amplifying community-led systems change. The Grants & Operations Associate will report to the Executive Director who is currently the only other staff member.

This is a full-time position based in Philadelphia, PA. Please note that the position is currently remote but will switch to at least partially in-person once it is safe to do so. The position may occasionally involve participating in evening or weekend events.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Manage grantmaking logistics including developing application forms, reviewing submissions, preparing materials for internal review, managing grants correspondence, scheduling applicant interviews, conducting due diligence, and processing grant awards.

  • Provide grants management database support including supporting transition to new organizational database (CRM).

  • Respond to routine grant-related inquiries regarding grantmaking programs, award status, and processes.

  • Assist with grantee support activities including convenings, technical assistance, and collaborative initiatives.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with grantees and external partners, providing support as appropriate.

  • Manage special projects/events with external partners as appropriate.

  • Support communications activities (newsletter, social media) as appropriate.

  • Represent GJF on external committees and workgroups.

  • Provide backup and support to Executive Director as appropriate.

  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • You have a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience. Experience in non-profits, capacity-building, philanthropy, or project management preferred.

  • You understand and are committed to gender justice and the values of GJF.

  • You have solid technology skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point), Zoom, Google Suite, Adobe Pro, database systems, Calendly (or other scheduling programs), and online forms. You understand how to maintain and organize files digitally including use of folders and naming conventions.

  • You are detail oriented and highly organized, a good writer, and a clear communicator.

  • You know how to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage multi-stage tasks/projects.

  • You have interpersonal skills and can develop and maintain relationships as well as communicate effectively with a diverse range of people.

  • You thrive on clarity and structure but can also be creative and flexible.

  • You have problem-solving skills and are willing to learn.

  • You are dependable, with a healthy work ethic, personal integrity, and good judgment.

  • You are a self-starter and can work independently, but are comfortable being part of a team and know when to seek support/input.

  • You understand the importance of brand guidelines. A creative eye and experience with Canva and/or Squarespace a bonus.

  • Ideally, you have some knowledge of Philadelphia, its neighborhoods/communities, and the local nonprofit or organizing landscape.

COMPENSATION

  • Salary: $55,000 - $60,000/year

  • Benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for health and dental benefits and 50% of premiums for spouses and children. Employer pays 100% of life and disability insurance. PTO plus holidays and a week off at the end of the calendar year.
