How You Will Contribute

The Manager of Delphi Programs oversees all the teen programs funded by the
Delphi Project Foundation, including several afterschool and summer programs
and artist in residencies in Philadelphia public and charter schools. Delphi
programs aim to excite, inspire, and support middle and high school students
as they explore the visual arts and their own artistic practice through
engagements with the museum’s collections and museum staff and working
artists.  The Manager coordinates all aspects of these programs, from
visioning and developing curriculum, ensuring the smooth operation of all the
programs, to supervising and supporting staff and teaching artists in the
programs.  They also work collaboratively with the funder, other education
staff, school- teachers, artists, and cultural partners throughout
Philadelphia to ensure that the Delphi programs best serve students and their
teachers.

 Presently Delphi Programs include Teen Sketch and Teen Media for high
school students, artist-residencies in middle school and high schools, and
Summer Teen Media (a six-week film program for 20 high school students led in
collaboration with Taller Puertoriqueno, Big Picture Alliance, and Esperanza
Academy Charter School).

Specifically, you will:

Manage Delphi programs day-to-day operations, including program planning and
delivery, budgeting and staffing.
Work with the Curator of Education, School and Teacher Programs, Coordinator
of Delphi Programs and other Education staff to develop yearly program
offerings, curriculum and budget. 
Supervise and support the work of the Coordinator of Delphi Programs.
Hire and supervise teaching artists for in-school and after-school programs
including supporting them with curriculum development and lesson planning.
Be a collaborating teacher with teaching artists, especially for Teen Sketch,
Teen Media and during museum visits for artist residencies.
Communicate with school administrators and educators and cultural partners to
ensure our programs are vital and connected to student learning and to
strategize how the museum can most effectively work with teachers and
students, particularly in the School District of Philadelphia.  
Recruit schools and art teachers for artist residencies and ensure the
success of the partnerships by providing overall support and coordination of
the programs.
Recruit students for afterschool and summer programs.
Conduct ongoing evaluations, documentation, and strategic planning for
programs.
Work with the Development team to report on program activity and prepare
yearly funding proposal.
Keep in regular communication with the Chief of the Delphi Project Foundation
to keep them informed about programs.
Work with curatorial and interpretation teams to find ways to make specific
exhibitions and gallery installations accessible to students and their
teachers. Invite museum staff from various areas to work with students
Maintain a broad working knowledge of current museum education and secondary
art education practices, approaches, and issues.
Take part in other School and Teacher Programs work such as participating in
teacher workshops.
Attend weekly School and Teacher Programs team meetings and Division of
Education meetings and professional development.
Other duties as assigned
Your background and experience include:

Strong interest and experience teaching diverse middle and high school
students in a museum, school and/ or alternative learning environment
Experience teaching studio arts and knowledge of a variety of art media,
techniques, and skills. 
Experience teaching a variety of grade levels of students in a museum,
classroom, or other arts organizations using object-based and inquiry- based
teaching approaches.
Curriculum development experience.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with a wide range of
people, including middle/high school students and their teachers, school
administrators and other museum staff.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking.
Ability to direct the work of others, provide creative and intellectual
oversight to a team
Ability to accomplish goals working through formal and informal channels.
Demonstrated planning and organizational skills. Ability to establish goals,
manage shifting priorities, and handle numerous time-sensitive projects with
multiple deadlines.
Demonstrated problem solving, critical analysis, initiative, judgment, and
decision-making skills.
Experience developing budget goals.
Demonstrated commitment to promoting, contributing to, and supporting an
equitable and inclusive culture (DEAI)
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience in studio art, art
education, museum education.
Position and Compensation Details

The salary for this position is $56,000
This position is full-time, exempt, and 35 hours per week
The schedule for this position is generally Monday – Friday with
afterschool programs running into the early evening
Participation in some weekend programs is expected
This position reports the Constance Williams Curator of Education, School &
Teacher Programs.
This is a grant funded position, eligible for continued renewal based on
annual funding.
Physical requirements:
Able to remain stationary for extended periods of time, to utilize computers
and other office equipment required of this job, to perform physically
administrative duties in a typical interior office environment, gallery, or
exhibit space, and to access most public and staff areas of the museum campus
Able to lead student groups throughout various gallery spaces.
Able to lead students in studio projects
Able to move items weighing up to 50 pounds
COVID-19 vaccination required.
Background check required after a conditional job offer is made.
Consideration of the background check will be tailored to the requirements of
the job.
PA Child Abuse Clearance and FBI Fingerprinting required.
