Our team plays a vital role in creating a space where both individuals and our community flourish.
Our Culture & Environment At 113 NYC, we're on a mission to transform what it means to work in retail by creating an environment that supports growth, and wellbeing at every level. Our team members work in small, self-managed groups, organized by interests and focus area. We offer just enough structure to provide grounding, while staying flexible to adapt, evolve, and respond to change. We're prototyping a new kind of workplace where inner growth meets adaptive systems and reimagining work as a place where people, society, and the planet thrive together.
We encourage people to bring their full selves to work. When considering new team members, we look beyond technical skills to evaluate collaboration style, work approach, and personal motivations. We believe honoring people's complete lives—including their passions, purpose, and what energizes them—leads to both individual fulfillment and our collective success.
Our Team Ecosystem:
In nature, one of the core building blocks of thriving ecosystems is the Teams. A Team is a living system within a larger ecosystem, think rainforest, grassland or tundra.
- Teams contain diverse species that play different roles (producers, consumers, decomposers, pollinators) all contributing to a thriving ecosystem.
- Each species contributes to the health and stability of the system through—no single organism leads, and the system thrives through harmonic balance and interdependence.
- Teams are interconnected, exchanging nutrients, water, signals and energy across a larger ecosystem.
- Balance is maintained not by control, but through species interactions, environmental feedback, and adaptive evolving processes.
- When in balance, Teams flourish and thrive.
We have created five adaptive and evolving Teams; replacing traditional departments with multidisciplinary teams inspired by ecosystems—diverse, interdependent, and continuously evolving—that will make up the 113 NYC ecosystem where power and creativity are distributed and nurtured through relationships rather than reporting lines.
