Beyond the Bell Tours
We are looking for guides who are passionate about inclusive history and Philadelphia to join our team. Guides must feel confident speaking in front of a group of people and have a great sense of humor.
While no tour guiding experience is necessary, we are looking for someone who can bring energy and enthusiasm to this role.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct 2-hour guided tours of Philadelphia
- Provided interesting and accurate information to visitors
- Engage with guests, answering questions and providing additional information as needed
- Ensure the safety and well-being of tour participants
- Utilize public speaking skills and humor to deliver engaging presentations and narratives
- Maintain a professional demeanor and positive attitude while interacting with guests
- Adhere to tour schedules and time management guidelines
- Provide exceptional customer service to enhance the overall visitor experience
- Educate visitors on the history and culture of Philadelphia
- Lead groups of various sizes (up to 25 people) through designated tour routes
- Manage crowd control and group dynamics during tours
Requirements:
- Must live in Philadelphia, PA
- Be good with people
- Have a good sense of humor
- Comfortable with rain, cold, and heat aka the full range of Philadelphia weather
- A good memory
- Good time management skills
- Excitement to share stories about lesser-known Philadelphians
- Proficiency in speaking about gender, sexuality, and race
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent public speaking skills
- Time management skills to ensure timely completion of tours
- Ability to educate and entertain diverse groups of individuals
- Leadership qualities to effectively guide tour participants
- Passionate about inclusive history and Philadelphia
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Self-starter who can take the initiative without direct supervision
- Willingness to learn and grow
- Excellent customer service skills
Compensation:
