How You Will Contribute

The Associate Director of Systems and Support leads our help desk and systems teams and holds responsibly for the day-to-day management of our network.  This scope includes endpoints, software, services, integrations, telecom, networking, IOT, and cloud.  The Associate Director is expected to utilize their technical expertise, aptitude for project management, and proven personnel management experience to deliver exceptional services across the organization.

This role is vital to the success of not only the department, but the entire museum.  By creating strong relationships across the organization, the Associate Director of Systems and Support helps shape and execute a vision that supports the unique needs of the departments we support. 

Specifically, you will:

  • Align the work of your teams to execute the objectives of the department.
  • Improve and maintain security, business continuity, and recovery by actively considering impact across all projects and daily activities.
  • Manage outsourced EDR/MDR/SEIM vendors and activity.
  • Execute a compliance management approach to infrastructure systems.
  • Regularly shift your focus to identify, prioritize, and address needs - this includes:
  • Promptly identifying and resolving technical issues with expertise
  • Regularly researching and learning new skills as needed
  • Assuming responsibility and managing to resolution
  • Communicating with professionalism, detail, and clarity
  • Empowering your teams achieve excellence
  • Keeping people first, by listening and utilizing emotional intelligence
  • Acting with a sense of urgency and accountability
  • Oversee the Help Desk & Systems teams by providing prioritization, technical support, feedback, guidance, and roadmaps.
  • Create workflows and decision trees that provide clear direction for critical events
  • Drive the rapid adoption of, and migration to, modern business applications.
  • Implement projects on your own or as part of a team (Firewall replacements, Cloud Migrations, E-Mail filtering, Software Integrations, WiFi Upgrades).
  • Develop and maintain documentation required for compliance and recovery.
  • Develop and oversee a curriculum for staff orientation and cyber security training.
  • Project & Vendor Management: Create long and short-term plans, including setting milestones, managing deadlines, communicating statuses, QC, and coordinating with stake holders.
  • Contribute to budget preparations, presentations, and board reports.
  • Implement and promote ITIL methodologies to maximize cost-efficiency, productivity, and service levels.
  • Ensure our systems to are current, secure, and properly resourced.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Your background and experience include:

  • Exceptional problem management skills
  • The ability to effectively troubleshoot anything at any time
  • Exceptional written and oral communication and skills
  • Proven consensus-building and influencing and skills
  • 10+ years of progressive Enterprise IT Systems administration and implementation
  • 5+ years of progressive IT personnel management and development for a team of 6+
  • 5+ years of experience of strategic planning and execution
  • 5+ years of experience managing IT vendors and SLAs
  • 3+ years of experience using methodologies such as SDLC/Agile
  • Experience managing a portfolio of 10+ concurrent, multi-year projects
  • Experience implementing IT Service Management (ITSM)
  • Experience writing RFPs
  • Experience with SEIM practices
  • Budget management, proposal review, and contract negotiation
  • Ability to think broadly/strategically and identify solutions
  • Expertise with network design- including storage, network, compute, security, endpoint, data, integrations, applications, cloud, identity, etc.
  • Expertise with Microsoft on-premises servers and applications
  • Expertise with Microsoft Azure, Endpoint Manager, IdP, Conditional Access, etc.
  • Experience deploying a CRM or ERP
  • Experience with APIs and software integrations
  • Expert level understanding of, and implementation experience with:
  • Networking concepts and protocols
  • Firewall rules, NAT, PAT, and perimeter services
  • Virtualization
  • Data protection and backup processes
  • IT Security
  • DNS
  • Application Installations & Management
  • As with many IT positions, this role requires managing and participating in the resolution of outages and implementing projects. Periodic after-hours work and emergency response is required.

Position and Compensation Details

  • The minimum salary for this position is $110,000.
  • This position is full-time, exempt, and 35 hours per week.
  • This position reports to the Director of Information and Interpretive Technology
  • Physical requirements:
  • Able to remain stationary for extended periods of time, to utilize computers and other office equipment required of this job, to perform physically administrative duties in a typical interior office environment, gallery, or exhibit space, and to access most public and staff areas of the museum campus, including the Rodin Museum, Park Houses and off-site Art Storage Facility.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • COVID-19 vaccination required.
  • Background check required after a conditional job offer is made. Consideration of the background check will be tailored to the requirements of the job.
