Contract Specialist

Major duties at the GS-12 level include, but are not limited to:

-Conducts procurement planning and considers acquisition background and objectives including delivery requirements, tradeoffs, cost, and risks.
-Establishes milestones and schedules for each procurement.
-Analyzes the draft government estimate developed by program officials to determine realism by applying data from acquisition histories and market research.
-Selects the type of contract to solicit such as possible price competition.
-Coordinates with appropriate personnel to exercise contract options.
-Develops and leads debriefing meetings for unsuccessful offers.
-Major duties at the GS-13 will be similar to those at the GS-12 level, however, under less supervision.
