Gender Wellness Therapist (MSW required)
The trans led Gender Wellness Program at ChristianaCare (Newark, DE location)
is seeking a gender therapist. This person will need to have their first
tier license in any state where they can then get reciprocity for a LMSW in
the state of DE. Free clinical supervision will be provided towards one's
clinical hours for top tier clinical license in DE (LCSW). This position
includes the option for some part-time remote work (hybrid model) after the
person is fully trained on-site with the other providers. Please note that
the current ad states one needs their LCSW or reciprocity. This is
incorrect, as stated above. First-tier license (test taken immediately after
graduation from MSW program) accepted.
ChristianaCare has excellent benefits including no "cap" on trans healthcare.
Insurance is Highmark Blue Cross/Blue Shield 403(b) with match. 12 weeks
paid leave for "maternity/paternity." Reasonable case load.
This position will provide gender - affirming behavioral health assessment
and therapy services to transgender and gender diverse patients and their
families. The position will include treating any mental health conditions
the person has, as well.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Conduct all modes of therapy for 14+ transgender/gender diverse individuals
(individual, family, group, multi-family groups). Option to treat younger
children very welcomed, but not required.
*Triage gender wellness telephone calls and emails for services: Assess
patient needs: referrals for gender - affirming services inside and outside
ChristianaCare, referrals to community resources, provide psychoeducation as
needed to callers
*Track referrals of patients requesting services.
*Complete gender - affirming hormone evaluations when requested by providers
within the system (i.e. endocrinology)
*Assist patients in resourcing gender - affirming surgical providers based on
need and insurance coverage.
*Complete gender - affirming surgical support letters for surgeons and
insurance companies. Interface with surgeons and caregivers as needed for
patients seeking gender related surgeries.
*Complete I.D. documentation for patients (passport, state I.D, social
security) when requested
*Ongoing coordination of care with medical providers and psychiatric
providers inside and outside the ChristianaCare system
*Provide education to the system on cultural competence when working with
gender diverse individuals when requested
*Attend gender diversity related committees and working groups within the

*Reports and updates pertinent patient information to physician and treatment
team at team meetings.
*Identifies milieu deficits and assists in implementing appropriate measures
to meet needs.
*Develops coordinated treatment plan in collaboration with other members of
the treatment team.
*Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety
rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe
activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury
to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
*Performs other related duties as required.

Constant contact with the therapeutic milieu and treatment team to facilitate
a positive, caring, and supportive atmosphere for positive change in all
DIRECTION/SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:
May supervise up to 1 social work intern after having LCSW
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Master of Social Work degree required
DE LMSW or LCSW license or ability to receive reciprocity for clinical
license from another state
