About us
Transcendence Care Network is a trans-led and operated international organization that supports trans people and their families with holistic care services including accompaniment, relocation services, mental health, and crisis intervention services. Our mission is to provide holistic compassionate support, essential resources, community, and secure pathways to safer spaces for individuals experiencing crisis; with the goal to support them in stabilizing and rebuilding their lives.
Our Network is a part of building and supporting a movement to build intergenerational trans wealth and power. We were founded in 2025 and in that time we helped over 650 people relocate, found 17 community partners, and built the foundation for a network that can meet the needs of our community.
We have an all trans Board and Executive Team and we operate as a non-hierarchical decentralized system as we work together to equitably share the responsibility of our work as it fits within our life’s purpose. Now we are building on that foundation and looking for someone who has the expertise and knowledge to obtain the funding we are needing for growth.
The role
You would be our first fundraising hire, but this is something we’ve been loosely growing with limited success so far.
You will inherit a bare bones built foundation for grant writing and funding operations. We’ve built our language and our network. Our team has grant drafts for you to build on and craft .
The goal is to find someone who can grow into a larger role and meet the current needs of expanding our runway.
What you'll do
- Research and qualify funders whose priorities align with our work: LGBTQIA+ and trans-serving foundations, health and human services funders, community foundations, crisis and emergency response funders, and relevant government programs.
- Build and maintain a funder pipeline with realistic timelines, deadlines, and fit assessments.
- Write and submit grant applications — letters of inquiry, full proposals, and the budget narratives that go with them. We see this as the starting place.
- Build our case for support: the core language, data, and story set that every future application draws from. This becomes organizational infrastructure, not just one proposal.
- Set up a donor hub — the systems and records that make individual giving possible later.
- Manage reporting requirements for awarded grants.
Goals for the first 6 months
We're setting these deliberately as things within your control, because grant timelines are not:
- A qualified funder pipeline of 20+ prospects with documented fit and deadlines
- 8–12 applications submitted
- A reusable case-for-support document set
- A functioning donor and funder record system
- At least 3 real relationships opened and growth with a volunteer donor hubs that are established
On dollars: The goal is for you to implement a collaborative strategy that we believe will bring in our fundraising budget for the 2027 year within 3 to 12 months.
The path to Development Director
Path into a Development Director role — expanded scope, more hours, and employment rather than contract with the potential for health care benefits.
- Your work — the pipeline is real, the writing is strong, and we work well together.
- Funding for the role — we will not create a Development Director position we can't fund for at least 18–24 months. Development hires typically take 12–18 months to pay for themselves, and hiring someone into a role we'd have to cut at month eight would be unfair to you and damaging to us.
Part of your first six months is, frankly, building the funding base that makes your own next role possible.
Who we're looking for
Required
- Demonstrated grant writing experience with a track record you can describe — proposals written, funders approached, outcomes
- Ability to research and qualify funders independently, without a list handed to you
- Strong, clear writing and editing skills in a grant writing format.
- Comfort building a CRM and growing donor hubs while setting a budget that creates realistic growth goals
- Ability to work independently, set your own schedule, and manage your own deadlines
- Ability to engage with self care practices that are required for activism work
Nice to have
- Existing relationships with LGBTQIA+, health, or crisis-response funders
- Experience with federal or state grant applications
- Familiarity with grant management or CRM tools
Compensation
$1,000-2,000 per month paid as a monthly contract retainer for roughly 10 to 20 hours a week, but we aren’t tracking hours as long as the work is getting done.
