NGLCC Conference 2018: Presenting the TransWork Model

Our goal has always been to freely share this model with other chambers and organizations who want to help transgender and non-binary folks in their communities access economic opportunity.

TransWork committee members and Independence Business Alliance board members Jone Magagna and Marcus Iannozzi have the honor of presenting a workshop on our program model at the 2018 NGLCC International Business and Leadership Conference, on August 15, 2018.

Entitled "TransWork: A Philadelphia Model for Economic Development in the Transgender Community," our presentation will focus on the key aspects of the model and the critical lessons learned as we designed and implemented a pilot. We will also discuss initial outcomes. This program is intended for activists and advocates who would like to start an employment or entrepreneurship program for trans communities in their region. The audience will include representatives of NGLCC affiliate LGBT chambers of commerce across the country.  "Our goal for the program has always been to freely share this model with other chambers and organizations who want to help transgender and non-binary folks in their communities access economic opportunity," says Marcus Iannozzi, Chair of the TransWork committee.

Zach Wilcha, Executive Director of the Independence Business Alliance, provides perspective on how a local LGBT chamber of commerce is an ideal setting for launching an employment and entrepreneurship program of this kind.
