Environmental Educator (Part-time Hourly, Multiple Openings) 

Heritage Conservancy seeks passionate and energetic part-time Environmental Educators to assist with school and community programs throughout the year. Educators will be trained in and deliver programs on a variety of topics including watersheds, water quality, environmental issues, ecosystems, wildlife, and more. The best candidates for the position will be knowledgeable about environmental topics, very personable, and have prior experience working with children and providing programming for groups. There is no minimum hour requirement each week and programming varies seasonally. 

Benefits: Flexible schedule, $20/hour, and mileage reimbursements 

Reports to: Community Engagement Programs Manager 

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

• Assist with implementing in-person educational programming for K-12 students at local schools and/or Heritage Conservancy preserves throughout Bucks County.
• Engage community members in interactive educational activities at public programs and tabling events with partner organizations.
• Lead small groups of students in hands-on activities tied to various curricular themes such as watersheds, ecosystems and more.
• Guide small groups on hikes through preserves based on program needs.
• Share Heritage Conservancy’s mission with attendees at public events and during school programs.
• Work closely with the Community Engagement Team to deliver high quality programs that are responsive to school community needs.
• Maintain any necessary documentation for programming and activities via photos and data collection for communications and reporting purposes. 

Essential Skills, Requirements, Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s or associate degree in environmental science, education, related field, or equivalent experience is required.
• At least one year of experience working with children and/or delivering public programming.
• Commitment to educating in an inclusive and culturally responsive way to support the diverse backgrounds of participants.
• Must be able to work independently and run small group activities as well as being able to collaborate with other educators to deliver high quality programming for a wide range of learners.
• Must be adaptable as programs may shift due to weather, or other unforeseen circumstances.
• Must be people oriented, have a positive attitude and good sense of humor.
• Ability to represent Heritage Conservancy well and an enthusiasm and commitment to Heritage Conservancy’s mission, goals, and values. 

Additional Details of Employment:

• Programs vary in length from one hour to half and full day programs.
• Schedule is variable, with most programs occurring during weekdays between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Occasional evening and weekend hours available.
• Must have own car, automobile insurance and valid driver’s license to travel to schools and other offsite locations throughout Bucks County.
• Pennsylvania child abuse clearances required.
• Ability to endure potentially variable factors associated with outdoor work, such as weather and uneven terrain. Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
• Must agree to comply with all current Heritage Conservancy workplace safety rules and regulations.
• Attend required training on Tuesday, August 22nd. Commit to assisting on at least 10 hours of programming support across a calendar year.
