• Position: Development and Communications Coordinator
• Status: Full time, Overtime Exempt
• Location: New Brunswick, NJ. Hybrid position with regular weekly workdays in New Brunswick required. Must have capacity for virtual meetings through Zoom or phone calls.
• Salary: $60,000
• Reports to: Executive Director

The Role:

The Development and Communications Coordinator’s role is to coordinate and support the organization’s fundraising efforts through a variety of channels, provide support on grant proposals and reports, build up our community of monthly donors, design public-facing organizational communications, and manage administrative activities so that our communications smoothly align with our work to end the overdose crisis and promote the safety & dignity of people who use drugs. This role will work closely across departments to amplify and uplift the work of NJHRC to the public. This role will be supervised by NJHRC’s Executive Director and receive outside supervision and mentorship from a Development Consultant.

Job Duties:

(1) Development (65%)

• Prospect for and identify potential institutional funders
• Write, edit, and submit Letters of Intent ( LOIs), proposals, and reports
• Write and execute annual digital fundraising campaigns
• Assist with coordinating NJHRC’s annual celebration
• Develop a targeted outreach strategy with the intent to increase funders of NJHRC and cultivate a community of monthly donors
• Build relationships with monthly donors to increase repeat donors
• Support the Executive Director and Development Consultant  in development activities, including drafting correspondence, prepping for and coordinating meetings, etc.

(2) Communications (15%)

• Regularly update website copy
• Write and coordinate NJHRC’s annual report
• Support NJHRC’s email newsletter
• Work with our program staff to identify and capture important stories and testimonials to demonstrate the impact of our work

(3) Administration (20%)

• Manage grants calendar and cultivation pipeline
• Ensure all donors are properly acknowledged 
• Maintain updated files on the server to ensure information is easily accessible
• Prepare donor acknowledgments and other public-facing outreach materials 
• Manage donor and supporter data using Stripe and Action Network

Preferred Qualities:

• Experience with grant writing
• Strong organizational skills
• Clear writing and sharp editing skills
• Project management experience
• Ability to work well independently
• Ability to work in collaboration with other staff, program participants, and external partners from a variety of different backgrounds
• Commitment to racial justice, health equity, and the dignity and autonomy of people who use drugs
