Home Health Aide/Personal Care Attendant Needed

Soren Gaudioso, 33-year-old transgender male diagnosed with cerebral palsy and full-time power wheelchair user, residing on the border between Jenkintown and Philadelphia PA, seeks personal care attendant. 

Candidates are required to provide full assistance in all areas of daily living including: toileting bathing personal hygiene, including wiping and cleaning up. Meal preparation and occasional feeding, assistance with all transfers, including those from bed to power wheelchair from wheelchair to shower, and from wheelchair to other areas around the home, and repositioning in bed as needed. Applicants are also responsible for light housekeeping, assisting client with accessing the community, and light exercise, as well as basic pet care, feeding and watering for client’s Cat.

Other duties include but are not limited to assisting client with opening mail, helping client to fill out forms with direction, medication assistance, helping client to take pre-poured medication, and other duties as assigned. All applicants must be able to lift 110 pounds. Client is able to help with weight-bearing. Personal care attendant must be timely. Experience working with those with physical disabilities is a plus, but client is willing to take on anyone who is willing to learn, and can fulfill above job description.

Shifts available:

Wednesday and Thursday mornings 7:30 AM until 1:30 PM.
Monday afternoon 3 PM until 9 PM. *After December there is a possibility of Monday becoming a double shift, from 7:30 AM until 9:00 PM.* Applicants are permitted to pick up any or all shifts which align with their schedule. Applicants must be willing to apply through the state of Pennsylvania’s self-directed care program: tempus unlimited, as client is on a fixed income. Base pay for the positions is $15.31 an hour. In addition to regularly scheduled shifts per diem work may also be available.
