Wilma Theater

The Wilma Theater seeks someone with an interest in learning about a Regional Theater Artistic department, with some administrative experience, to serve as Artistic Intern. 

The Artistic Intern reports to the Associate Producer and supports the work of the Artistic Department, which also includes the Artistic Director cohort and the Associate Artistic Director. 

The Artistic Intern will contribute meaningfully to the organizational culture of the Wilma and will advocate to advance our values on an organizational, local, and national scale. This person will take part in cross-departmental work and company-wide EDI work as we further our commitment to being an inclusive, anti-racist organization. 

Responsibilities

The Artistic Intern will assist the Artistic department in reading and reporting on scripts, helping to maintain our literary database, doing dramaturgical research related to the plays of our season, assisting with auditions, assisting with special events, taking lien notes on productions, supporting HotHouse company sessions, and performing clerical duties such as copying, scanning, and various other administrative tasks. Interns are also able to observe HotHouse Company sessions and rehearsals. Many former interns have gone on to graduate school and work at institutions such as Actors Theatre of Louisville, Playwrights Horizons and The O’Neill.

Qualifications

Candidates must have academic and practical experience in theater, and display strong written, verbal, and analytical skills. The ideal candidate is proficient in remote-work software and systems, with the ability to learn our Microsoft 365, and project management and video conference tools.

COVID-19 Vaccine Policy
The Wilma Theater strongly recommends all employees, whose work requires their physical presence on-site at spaces managed and operated by The Wilma Theater, to be fully vaccinated and up to date with the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna (bivalent) vaccine. Being “fully vaccinated” and “up to date” as defined by the CDC, is more than 14 calendar days following receipt of a final dose of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or World Health Organization (WHO) authorized vaccine.

Compensation

This is a part-time (10 hours a week), temporary, non-exempt role with compensation of $15/hour.
