How You Will Contribute

The temporary Conservation Technicians for Offsite Storage Maintenance are careful and diligent individuals who work on a project to clean a section of the museum’s offsite storage facility. The project duration will be 6 months.  

Specifically, you will:

  • Work cooperatively as a small team for the proper execution of the tasks that will include moving art objects to clean the storage racks, washing the covers protecting art objects, and cleaning the overhead beams and floors surrounding the storage racks.  
  • Work routinely on lifts at heights of up to 20 feet.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Your background and experience include:

  • Ability to work on delicate and repetitive tasks that require sustained close attention, good hand skills, and the use of tools including vacuums, brushes, and mops.
  • Ability to focus on the task with sensitivity to a wide variety of materials and their condition.
  • Ability to work on high lifts, with good three-dimensional perception.
  • Experience in the handling of art objects preferred.

Position and Compensation Details

  • The hourly rate for this position is $16.75.
  • This position is temporary, full-time, non-exempt, and 35 hours per week.
  • This position reports to the Gallery Maintenance Supervisor
  • This position is 6 months in duration from date of hire
  • Physical requirements:
  • Able to remain focused for extended periods of time on repetitive tasks.
  • Able to work on a ladder, a single- or double-person hydraulic lift, or scaffolding at heights of up to 20 feet.
  • Able to move up to 45-50 pounds.
  • COVID-19 vaccination required.
  • Background check required after a conditional job offer is made. Consideration of the background check will be tailored to the requirements of the job.
