Development Assistant
Position Title: Development Assistant
Reports To: Director of Development and Communications
Department: Development
Status: Full Time
Qualifications:
This position requires the following:
● Associate’s degree and 1 -2 years of administrative support in
Development Department.
● Strong project management skills with the ability to work independently
as well as collaboratively to achieve goals and complete tasks in an
effective and efficient manner.
● Resourcefulness in trouble-shooting and solving problems on projects.
● Highly proficient with Microsoft Office(Word and Excel), Social Media
platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter), Mailchimp or similar
email platforms, Google Docs and Analytics, Wordpress, and donor database
management (Salesforce preferred).
● Basic image editing skills, familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud or
similar tools a plus.
● Excellent written and oral communication skills.
● Outstanding clerical and operations skills.
● Ability to work in a diverse environment with staff, volunteers and
consumers.
● Flexibility in work schedule, occasional nights and weekends required.
● A positive attitude and warm, professional interpersonal skills.
Basic Function: Provide support for the Development Department including
donor relations, donor electronic communications, special events and digital
reach.
Specific Responsibilities for Development:
● Maintain donor records in Salesforce
o Enter donations into Salesforce.
o Produce acknowledgment letters.
o Run reports as needed.
● Support department for special events
o World AIDS Day
▪ Research and write posts for social media
▪ Manage photo submissions for Action Heroes Wear Red.
o Glamsino
▪ Spearhead prize collection for silent auction and raffle prizes
o Dining Out For Life
▪ Input restaurant contracts into Salesforce.
▪ Send contracts to restaurants.
▪ Provide follow up calls to restaurants.
▪ Work with Volunteer Department to schedule volunteers for tasks
associated with the event.
▪ Assist with the development and posts for Dining Out For Life social
media.
▪ Support restaurant and Ambassador material distribution.
▪ Upload restaurant and event information into Dining Out For Life
International website.
● Support Grants Manager in grant reporting, prospecting and other needs as
they arise.
● Work with Senior Development Associate and Director of Development and
Communications to coordinate printed materials for the agency.
● Work with Senior Development Associate to schedule social media posts on
Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn on a weekly basis.
● Perform simple maintenance of the organization's website.
● Work with the Director of Development and Communications to produce
in-house marketing materials as requested by staff.
● Work with the Development Department to maintain the department schedule
and timelines.
● Other duties as assigned.
Performance Standards:
The following performance standards are specific to this position. Meeting
or exceeding these standards is an expectation of employment, as is
compliance with all other organizational and departmental policies,
procedures and expectations.
● Ensure that the donor management system data is accurate, entered in a
timely fashion and up to date.
● Ensure that donors are acknowledged within 7 days of donation.
● Contact supervisor with any urgent or unusual matters.
● Consistent follow through with projects and requests.
● Respond as a participant of the development team in the production of
large events.
● Adhere to all Action Wellness and departmental policies and procedures
