How You Will Contribute

The Loading Dock Receiver is responsible for unloading and delivering incoming packages to various museum departments and delivering supplies as necessary.

Specifically, you will:

  • Receive incoming packages, sort, and distribute to appropriate departments using hand truck, pallet jack or forklift.
  • Verify and maintain records of incoming and outgoing shipments to ensure proper internal tracking.
  • Prepare items for shipment and schedule material pickups with carriers as necessary.
  • Receive, lift, move, store, count, sort, and verify items on requisitions or invoices.
  • Unpack and examine incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and notifies recipient of damages.
  • Manage and order breakroom, business, and stationery supplies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the loading dock.
  • Comply with all museum safety policies and procedures.
  • Provide backup to the Mailroom Clerk and support the mailroom operation as needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Your background and experience include:

  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Prior experience operating a forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
  • Prior experience working on a loading dock in a variety of environmental conditions.
  • A high school diploma or GED.

Position and Compensation Details

  • The hourly rate for this position is $16.75.
  • This position is full-time, non-exempt, and 35 hours per week.
  • This position is part of the AFSCME Local 397 bargaining unit.
  • This position reports to the Manager of Facilities Operations.
  • Physical requirements:
  • Able to remain stationary for extended periods of time, to utilize computers and other office equipment required of this job, to perform physically administrative duties in a typical interior office environment, gallery, or exhibit space, and to access most public and staff areas of the museum campus.
  • Able to remain stationary and/or move throughout the buildings up to 2 hours at one time for up to 4 hours per day.
  • Able to move items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • COVID-19 vaccination required.
  • Background check required after a conditional job offer is made. Consideration of the background check will be tailored to the requirements of the job.
