We’re looking for a motivated, creative, and resourceful individual who
takes pride in their work and wants to partner with clients and developers
who are pushing the boundaries of the technology we work with.

QA Engineers at Alley work to uphold our high standards of quality and
implement effective testing solutions to prevent regressions. Your
responsibilities will range from performing manual testing across browsers
and devices to innovating on ways to automate and improve our testing
processes.

QA Engineers at Alley need to be well-rounded technologists who have a
holistic understanding of the technologies we work with, are passionate about
testing strategies, and are eager to work with our team to deliver the
highest quality products to our clients.

Responsibilities
* Perform thorough cross-browser and virtual device testing across
high-traffic sites and environments.
* Ensure site compliance with accessibility standards and requirements during
testing.
* Develop standards and processes to determine product quality and release
readiness.
* Work closely with team members to ensure all work is tested and released on
time.
* Implement automated testing to increase efficiency, proactively audit
sites, and document regressions.
* Update and expand project documentation.
* Create test plans for larger features and projects.
* Research new tools, technologies, and testing processes.
* Participate as a member of a cross-functional, stable, remote scrum team.

Qualifications
* You are excited by the scavenger hunt nature of QA work and discovering new
bugs or issues.
* You have professional experience working in web-based quality assurance.
* You have a thorough understanding of accessibility requirements for
websites and how to test for compliance.
* You have working knowledge of website design and development processes.
* You are proficient in writing basic Javascript to execute automated browser
testing.
* You are well versed in setting up and using hosted automated testing tools,
such as Ghost Inspector and/or local automated testing libraries, such as
Cypress and Selenium.
* You are seasoned in identifying and diagnosing issues found via both
automated and manual testing.
* You utilize browser tools in your testing to proactively uncover issues
before they are reported.
* You work collaboratively and cross-functionally with software engineers,
designers, and other technical and non-technical team members.
* You have strong written and verbal communication skills and are comfortable
communicating with both team members and clients.
* You are highly organized and have a keen attention to detail.
* You are open to using Scrum as a development methodology. Prior experience
is a plus.

Bonus Points If
* You have experience with conducting quality assurance on WordPress sites.
* You have experience working directly with development teams.
* You have experience with Jira.
* You have working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
* You hold accessibility certifications, i.e. CPACC.

Benefits
* Competitive salaries – We recognize several levels of career progression
for QA Engineers and tie compensation to those levels corresponding to their
seniority and experience. We are currently searching for candidates to join
at any of our first four levels, with base salaries starting at $50k, $80k,
$90k, and $105k. If you consider yourself to be at a higher level, we still
encourage you to apply and can discuss additional opportunities with you!
* Medical, dental and vision benefits
* 401k with company matching
* Profit sharing
* Monthly lunch allowance
* Flexible schedules – We do not limit vacation or sick time. We trust our
team members to get their work done and take the time off they need to
recharge.
* Remote first – We are a fully distributed company, meaning we don’t
have a set work location. Team members can choose to work from home or from a
co-working space. We’ll furnish your home office or rent you a co-working
space.

Alley are carried out by our staff.

2) Senior User Experience Designer
User Experience Designers at Alley work shoulder-to-shoulder with product
strategists, content experts, and developers to bring the websites of news
organizations, large-scale nonprofit institutions, and foundations to life.
If you want your work to be seen and used by hundreds of thousands of people
every day, Alley is the place for you.

You must exhibit a portfolio that demonstrates outstanding visual design
talent and the ability to flex your style to the specific communication and
positioning goals of each client. You must be energized by the prospect of
working for large, complex organizations and think about your designs as
systems rather than a set of bespoke pages.

We are looking for a senior designer who can execute their work
independently, but with the support and critique of other team members. You
should have experience in and enjoy client services, preferably in an agency
setting.

3) Agile Process Leader (Scrum Master)
Agile Process Leaders (Scrum Masters) at Alley are responsible for driving
their team’s effectiveness by educating their team and other company
members in Scrum, leveraging the Scrum framework to improve team
communication around impediments and risk, increasing the velocity of client
value delivery, and fostering a culture of respect and transparency.

We are seeking an Agile Process Leader with experience using agile
methodologies, preferably in an agency, professional services, or media
technology organization context, to join our team in guiding clients and team
members through production projects and beyond.

Qualified applicants should display strong verbal and written communication
skills, quick and creative problem-solving, resourcefulness, and superior
attention-to-detail. You’re expected to keep track of everything happening
on your team since no detail is too small — so be sure to include
“Welcome to the world of tomorrow!” in your cover letter to be
considered. Additionally, the ability to identify when to raise an impediment
or blocker and how, when, and why to raise concerns with the client and/or
internal team is crucial.

This is an engaging, fast-paced and, at times, intense environment where the
ability to manage competing priorities is essential. You will be expected to
inherit and iterate upon our Scrum principles and work with the entire team
to ensure that all of our projects adhere to them.

Responsibilities
* Simultaneously manage production/maintenance of several client engagements
in the context of a single dedicated Scrum team.
* Guide the team through Scrum rituals — sprint planning, backlog
refinement, retrospective, demo, and the daily scrum.
* Educate your team and the broader Alley team about core Scrum concepts and
patterns.
* Participate in the broader community of Agile Process Leaders at Alley
within our Scrum@Scale structure, and help senior leaders understand and
resolve the impediments your team may be facing.
* Facilitate meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
* Maintain transparency of progress — make work visible — throughout the
lifetime of a project for both internal and external stakeholders in order to
clearly manage expectations.
* Digest large amounts of information from meetings and translate into
“actionable items” and/or reference materials for team members.
* Anticipate and remove potential roadblocks to ensure team efficiency.
* Drive the team towards continuous growth, with a focus on removing waste
from team and Alley-wide processes.

Qualifications
* You are service-oriented with an ability to proactively manage
expectations.
* You understand how to dig into the root cause of impediments and work
towards the removal of blockers.
* You communicate professionally and effectively via tools such as Zoom,
Slack, Google Apps, and Jira.
* You have experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment,
ideally in the context of an agency, professional services firm, or media
technology organization.
* You rapidly adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities.
* You have experience working with agile methodologies, particularly Scrum,
and the values (commitment, courage, focus, openness and respect) that make
it a successful product development approach.
* You are familiar with project management/issue tracking systems such as
Jira.
* Being a Certified Scrum Master is preferred, but not required.

Benefits
* Competitive salaries – We recognize several levels of career progression
for Agile Process Leaders and tie compensation to those levels corresponding
to their seniority and experience. We are currently searching for an
experienced Agile Process Leader with base salaries starting at $70k and
$85k. If you consider yourself to be at a higher level, we still encourage
you to apply and can discuss additional opportunities with you!
* Medical, dental and vision benefits
* 401k with company matching
* Profit sharing
* Monthly lunch allowance
* Flexible time off policy
* Remote first – We are a fully distributed company, meaning we don’t
have a set work location. Team members can choose to work from home or from a
co-working space. We’ll furnish your home office or rent you a co-working
space.
