How You Will Contribute
The Visual Merchandising Associate is responsible for maintaining the appearance and stock levels of products at all store locations. This individual ensures optimal appeal to achieve pre-determined sales goals. They work with the sales team to promote an excellent overall experience with the goal of creating a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment.
Specifically, you will:
- Participate in the creative planning of store sets for each store location.
- Understand financial goals for each store and provide feedback and suggestions on optimizing visual merchandising plans to meet those goals.
- Responsible for the overall appearance of the Retail store floor ensuring it is orderly, clean, and well stocked.
- Set minimums for all in store stock positions, oversee replenishment of merchandise.
- Ensure all merchandise is correctly ticketed and stock levels on store floor are maintained
- Transport and fill displays daily as needed.
- Under direction, submit work orders for signage needed throughout stores and ensure signs are displayed properly.
- Execute concept key presentations and floor changes related to exhibitions and gallery changes.
- Assist with annual physical inventory.
- Assist Distribution Center operations as needed by tagging inbound merchandise and keep shelves neat, clean, and organized.
- Set up and dismantle seasonal and exhibition displays.
- Other duties as assigned
Your background and experience include:
- Prior retail experience with a focus on customer service.
- Creative mindset for design in a retail or other product-based environment.
- Excellent organizational, communication, writing and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent facilitation, collaboration, and negotiation skills.
- Bachelor’s degree with specialization in business, retail, hospitality and/or foodservices management or equivalent experience preferred.
Position and Compensation Details
- The hourly rate for this position is $16.75
- This position is full-time, non-exempt, and 35 hours per week
- This position requires evening, weekend, and holiday hours
- This position is part of the AFSCME Local 397 bargaining unit
- This position reports to the Director of Retail
Physical requirements:
- Able to remain stationary for extended periods of time, to utilize computers and other office equipment required of this job, to perform physically administrative duties in a typical interior office environment, gallery, or exhibit space, and to access most public and staff areas of the museum campus
- Able to move boxes of at least 50 pounds
- Able to access items from high shelves as needed
- COVID-19 vaccination required.
- Background check required after a conditional job offer is made. Consideration of the background check will be tailored to the requirements of the job.
