run innovative research, education, and advocacy programs. We’ve been
saving lives every day for over 20 years.
Overview of the role
As a UX Designer at The Trevor Project, you will play a major role in
evangelizing user experience best-practices across the organization. You will
be responsible for creating user-centered process flows and product designs
that scale our ability to support volunteer counselors, staff supervisors,
and LGBTQ youth across the United States and, eventually, internationally. .
You also will serve as a thought partner for cross-functional teams,
advocating for great UX every step of the way. You will build, lead, and
execute all aspects of the design process.
Who you are
Knowledgeable. You have formal training or real world experience in
interaction design, human-computer interaction, and/or a related field, and
you have 2+ years of experience using it to inform product development
centered around user needs, behaviors, and motivations. You have experience
participating in multiple projects where you were responsible for identifying
user needs, building prototypes, testing ideas, and refining designs based on
data and user feedback. You are skilled in creating high-fidelity designs,
wireframes, flow designs, and maintaining designing libraries.
Innovative. You apply a mix of strong design knowledge, a solid understanding
of design systems, and expertise in documentation to propose innovative
solutions. You actively look for ways to introduce new ideas and improve
existing processes, and you are adaptable and flexible with changing
priorities.
Impactful. You deliver consistent, high-quality design work that ensures the
UX aligns with team and organizational goals. You have excellent written and
verbal communication skills, and are aware that paying attention to small
details can have a huge impact on the organization.
Collaborative. You are comfortable communicating with engineers, product
managers, and other stakeholders throughout the design process. While working
collaboratively, you know your primary responsibility is advocating for our
users and providing them the best possible experience.
Approachable. You can comfortably interact and effectively communicate with a
wide range of audiences, whether you are participating in UX research with
LGBTQ youth or sharing insights with leadership.
Empathetic. You respect those around you regardless of race, ethnic origin,
gender, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, physical ability, and other
identities and/or diverse backgrounds
Passionate. You care about LGBTQ youth. You care about saving lives. You want
to come to work and feel inspired every day. You want to change the world.
