Announcing Tourism Diversity Matters Apprentice Program

TDM’s Apprenticeship Program is a 600-hour paid rotational opportunity for diverse professionals interested in hospitality and tourism careers.

An Apprenticeship Leading to Full Time Employment in the Hospitality Industry

The Independence Business Alliance (IBA) and TransWork are partnering with Tourism Diversity Matters (TDM) to support the organization’s national apprenticeship program. The collaboration is designed to support workforce development and economic empowerment within the trans community.

TDM’s Apprenticeship Program is a 600-hour paid rotational opportunity for diverse professionals interested in hospitality and tourism careers. The apprentices gain experience in various areas, including event management, marketing, communications, public relations, sales, finance, sports management, and more. The candidate would gain experience at Philadelphia's Sofitel and other Philadelphia region hospitality entities. At the end of the program, the apprentice is offered a full-time position with the program host.

“The program, originally launched in Philadelphia more than two decades ago, is returning home,” states Greg DeShields, executive director of Tourism Diversity Matters. “Currently, TDM has Apprenticeship Programs in Columbus, OH; Chicago, IL; Washington, DC; and Minneapolis, MN. We continue to expand and will soon have programs in Boston, Houston, and Philadelphia.”
