Reporting to the<br />\r\n Director of Policy, the Grant Specialist will collaborate with all Units to<br />\r\n play an essential role in fundraising to support the Defender’s critical<br />\r\n initiatives across Units that require external funding, in deepening<br />\r\n relationships with current foundation funders/potential funders, and in<br />\r\n furthering the organization’s growth goals by identifying new funding<br />\r\n opportunities. The Grant Specialist oversees the grant application process<br />\r\n from beginning to end as well as writing grant proposals and reports,<br />\r\n producing responses to government RFPs (Request for Proposals), and<br />\r\n researching foundations and other potential funding opportunities. Working<br />\r\n closely with the executive and management teams of all our Units and staff<br />\r\n across the organization, the Grant Specialist plays an essential role in<br />\r\n Defender’s identification of funding needs, fundraising and program growth.<br />\r\n This is a hybrid position.<br />\r\n <br />\r\n What You’ll Do<br />\r\n • Researches various types of grants available to further our strategic<br />\r\n initiatives, criminal justice reform initiatives, indigent defense, youth<br />\r\n justice, child advocacy, community education and non-profit<br />\r\n leadership/training development and identifies the criteria to qualify for<br />\r\n each.<br />\r\n • Discusses available sources of funding with the executive and management<br />\r\n teams.
