Position Summary: The Major Events Manager is responsible for planning and implementing the annual Lehigh Valley Pride festival, the Gala & LGBT Community Leadership Awards, Pride Nights at the Lehigh Valley Phantoms and Iron Pigs and developing one new major event. 

This position works collaboratively as part of a development team that includes a director of development, grants coordinator, and development associate, as well as volunteer event committees and interns. Based on a thorough understanding of major event planning, corporate sponsorship, and event fundraising, the Major Events Manager is responsible for ensuring a financially and programmatically successful pride festival and gala and for ensuring event revenue goals are met or exceeded. The Major Events Manager reports to the Director of Development.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee all stages of planning, fundraising, and implementation of the annual Lehigh Valley Pride Festival, Gala & LGBT Community Leadership Awards, Pride Nights at the Lehigh Valley Phantoms and Iron Pigs, and a new major event
In collaboration with the Director of Development, proactively cultivate sponsors for major events, manage sponsorship agreements, ensure that sponsors receive agreed upon benefits, and help maintain sponsor relationships throughout the year
Apply for and ensure compliance with all permits and licenses relevant to major events
Recruit, engage and oversee volunteers for major events
Cultivate volunteers to serve in leadership roles through the major event committees, and engage committees with regular meetings to plan major events
Propose and work within budgets for each major event
Meet or exceed fundraising goals
Maintain thorough understanding of organizational vision, history and programs
Attend staff and development team meetings as scheduled
Provide monthly written report to the Director of Development
Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications and Characteristics

Energy, enthusiasm and motivation to ensure high-quality major events for the LGBTQ+ community in the Lehigh Valley
Comfort with cold calls and phone-based communication
Comfort with making fundraising asks
Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail
Ability to use technology to achieve results
Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, and be able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively and efficiently
Prior experience in engaging historically underrepresented and marginalized communities, including LGBTQ+ community members and people living with HIV
Demonstrated track record of setting and achieving goals
Proficiency with Zoom and Google apps including Sheets, Docs, Forms, and Slides
Strong writing skills, organizational skills, and follow-through
Requirements

Cultural competency around LGBTQ+ communities, including at the intersection of race/ethnicity, gender, and disability
A passion for LGBTQ+ health equity and LGBTQ+ human rights
Child Abuse, State Police, and FBI background checks are required for this position
This position is required to drive to different locations; a driver's license and personal vehicle is required
Preferences

Previous experience working at a community-based non-profit organization
Previous experience with major event management
Previous experience with corporate sponsorship
Spanish-language spoken and written proficiency
Benefits/Compensation 

This is a full-time position funded with a salary range of $38,000-$42,000. Salary will be offered for this position based upon the successful candidate’s prior experience.
