POSITION OVERVIEW:

Strut is a community health center in the heart of the Castro, committed to
improving the health and wellness of those most impacted by sexual health
disparities. Through programs supporting physical and sexual health, social
support, and substance and behavioral health, our work is dedicated to
strengthening our diverse communities through access to sex-positive,
gender-affirming, and body-positive services.

The Clinical Assistant & Volunteer Manager will onboard, train and support a
cohort of Clinical Assistants and volunteers to provide sexual health
services. Clinical Assistants receive an introduction to community health
work and will work alongside sexual health clinicians and volunteers,
benefits navigators, and community programs staff. The role will also partner
with the San Francisco Department of Public Health to facilitate ongoing
citywide HIV, HCV, and STI test counselor trainings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Training & Facilitation:
Recruits and onboards clinical assistants and volunteers.
Provides initial and ongoing training and support to clinical assistants and
volunteers.
Facilitates San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) HIV, HCV, STI
test counseling trainings.
Provides individual support to clinical assistants and volunteers.
Conducts recruitment outreach.

Collaboration:
Partners with various team members internally to ensure that Clinical
Assistants and volunteers receive support, mentorship, and ongoing
performance feedback.

Administrative:
Coordinates and manages training and shadowing shifts.
Provides employment support to Clinical Assistant graduates.
Monitors and evaluates contract goals.
Supports Clinical Assistant and volunteer quality assurance efforts.
Other duties as assigned.

Communication: Utilizes communication skills to facilitate decision-making,
relationship-building and capacity building processes. Excellent written and
verbal intercultural communication skills. Ability to lead and facilitate
groups.

Project Management and Supervisory Skills: Ability to manage multiple
projects at one time. Ability to organize projects by relevance and urgency.
Ability to keep moving projects forward. Keeping project teams organized and
cohesive.

Knowledge: Possesses technical knowledge required to do the job. Awareness &
sensitivity to health disparities/stigma related to SFAF’s priority
communities.

Judgment: Exhibits sound and accurate judgment; can clearly explain reasoning
for decisions; includes appropriate people in decision-making process;
demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles.

Adaptability: Adapts to changes in work duties and organizational structure.

Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; works
with others to solve complex problems.

Customer Service: Ability to work comfortably with many different communities
and stakeholders; exhibits sensitivity to issues concerning HIV. Responds
efficiently and cordially to requests for service and assistance.

Dependability: Completes tasks on time; takes responsibility for own actions;
reliable. Reacts well under pressure; treats others with respect and

Self-Directed: Must be Independent and self-directed, but able to work
collaboratively and lead creative individuals.

Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google G Suite.

SUPERVISION:  Clinical Assistants & Volunteers

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENTS:

Skill in operating equipment such as a personal computer, copy machine and
telephone system.  Ability to perform routine bending, stooping, twisting,
and reaching. The physical demands described here are representative of those
that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential

position may have exposure to blood borne pathogens and other infectious
agents

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Minimum 2 years of experience in a community based organization or nonprofit
required.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory or teaching position highly
regarded.
California Phlebotomy License & California HIV Test Counselor Certification
is required within first year of employment

This position will have access to protected health information (PHI) and may
only access, use or disclose the minimum information necessary to perform
their designated role on behalf of San Francisco AIDS Foundation, regardless
of the extent of access provided.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is primarily located at 470 Castro Street, San Francisco,
however it may occasionally require traveling to other office locations or
off-site meetings as required by the job. Role may include evening and
weekend activities.
